Key Personnel
Kurt Shedenhelm, President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Shedenhelm has a BA from the University of Northern Iowa and provides leadership and management expertise in all aspects of Palisade’s business activity. He joined Palisade in March, 2004 with a reputation for developing start-up companies into market leaders. He founded Path Technology Group in 1996 and propelled it into profitability from the beginning. The company was sold in 1999 and he stayed with the company to take on the role of president of the subsidiary.
Mr. Shedenhelm has successfully led a new round of investment in Palisade and has structured the company to emerge as the leader in the network security marketplace.
Dr. Doug Jacobson, Founder and Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Jacobson developed Palisade's patented core technology at Iowa State University, founded Palisade in 1996,
and currently oversees the development of that technology into Palisade's product lines. He is a professor of
computer engineering at Iowa State University, and also directs the Information Assurance Center at Iowa State
University, one of only a handful of entities in the country to have been designated Centers of Excellence
in Computer Security Education by the National Security Agency (NSA). Dr. Jacobson also holds several additional patents and, as a recognized leader in the network security field, was invited to testify before the U.S. Congress regarding security issues.
Dr. Guy Helmer, Principal System Architect
Dr. Helmer, a recognized expert in network security, is the principal system architect for Palisade products. His
experience includes participation in several research projects focused on intrusion detection, assistant professor at
Iowa State University, and numerous publications. He is a regular presenter at the Computer Emergency Response Team
(CERT) conference in Nebraska and was also invited to speak at the Requirements Engineering for Product Lines Workshop
(REPL02) in conjunction with 10th International Requirements Engineering Conference (RE02) Conference, Essen, Germany
in 2002.
